“Jesus is God!”—this truth stands at the heart of true Christianity. Yet, for many, this foundational truth is debatable. But as believers, we must boldly proclaim what the Scriptures and even reason affirm: Jesus is not just a prophet or a good man—He is fully God and fully man.
Think about it: a son of man is a man. A human cannot give birth to another species. So if Jesus is the Son of God, then logically, He is God. As the Swahili proverb says, “Mtoto wa nyoka ni nyoka”—“The child of a snake is a snake.” Likewise, the Son of God is God.
Like Father, Like Son: Jesus Is the Exact Image of God
The book of Hebrews declares this profound truth:
“God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power…”
—Hebrews 1:1–3 (NKJV)
Jesus is not a shadow or a symbol of God. He is the express image of the Father. In fact, He told His disciples plainly:
“He who has seen Me has seen the Father.”
—John 14:9 (NKJV)
This is not metaphor—it is divine identity revealed.
Jesus Is the Core of True Christianity
Without Jesus, there is no gospel. There is no salvation. There is no Christianity.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.”
—John 1:1–3 (NKJV)
Jesus is not a created being. He is the Creator!
He became flesh so that He could die as a man:
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us…”
—John 1:14 (NKJV)
“…a body You have prepared for Me.”
—Hebrews 10:5 (NKJV)
Though He walked among us in human form, Jesus existed eternally as Spirit, just like God the Father and the Holy Spirit.
“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
—John 4:24 (NKJV)
Jesus Is the Mighty God Foretold by Isaiah
The prophet Isaiah foresaw the coming of Jesus and declared His divine titles:
“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
—Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)
Take note: Mighty God.
When Jesus was born, angels announced His identity:
“For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
—Luke 2:11 (NKJV)
The Greek word used here for “Lord” (Kyrios) is the same word used for God in the Septuagint.
Thomas, the disciple, made no mistake when he fell before Jesus and declared:
“My Lord and my God!”
—John 20:28 (NKJV)
Even after touching His wounds, he knew this was God in the flesh.
The Divine Power of Jesus Christ
Let’s now explore the divine power Jesus possesses. Jesus is God, and His authority is unmatched in heaven and on earth.
1. He Created All Things
“For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible… All things were created through Him and for Him.”
—Colossians 1:16 (NKJV)
Jesus is the source of creation. He is not part of it—He made it all.
2. He Holds Everything Together
“And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.”
—Colossians 1:17 (NKJV)
He upholds the entire universe by the word of His power (Hebrews 1:3). What a powerful Lord we serve!
3. He Is Heir of All Things
“…whom He has appointed heir of all things…”
—Hebrews 1:2 (NKJV)
All things—heavenly and earthly—belong to Jesus.
4. His Name Is the Only Name that Saves
“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
—Acts 4:12 (NKJV)
His name is powerful, holy, and the only doorway to eternal life.
5. He Gave Us Authority
Jesus has given believers authority in His name to:
- Cast out demons
- Heal the sick
- Preach the gospel (Mark 16:17–18)
“At the name of Jesus every knee should bow…”
—Philippians 2:10 (NKJV)
6. He Is Seated at the Right Hand of the Father
“When He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.”
—Hebrews 1:3 (NKJV)
His place is beside the Father, equal in glory and dominion.
7. He Will Judge and Reign
Jesus will return as King of kings and Lord of lords (Revelation 19:16). He will defeat the Antichrist and the false prophet with the word of His mouth (2 Thessalonians 2:8).
“Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse… and His name is called The Word of God.”
—Revelation 19:11–13 (NKJV)
John saw Him in glory:
“His head and His hair were white like wool… His eyes like a flame of fire… His voice as the sound of many waters.”
—Revelation 1:14–15 (NKJV)
Only Jesus was found worthy to open the scroll (Revelation 5:9).
Only Those Who Believe in Jesus Will Enter His Kingdom
“And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”
—John 17:3 (NKJV)
“You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him.”
—John 17:2 (NKJV)
Jesus is the only way to the Father:
“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
—John 14:6 (NKJV)
To believe in Him is to live forever. To reject Him is to perish.
Jesus Is God!
From Genesis to Revelation, Jesus is God. The Scriptures testify of His divine nature, His power, and His eternal glory. As believers, we are not confused. We know whom we have believed. He is the Mighty God, the Creator, the Savior, and the Soon-Coming King.
Let us boldly declare it to the world:
JESUS IS GOD!
